Attention DR Alumni & Community Members, If you recall, the Dighton-Rehoboth District started the Strategic Planning process last year by developing the Portrait of a Graduate (POG). I am very pleased to share that the next phase of our Strategic Planning initiative is on schedule for a proposal to be made to School Committee in late May/early June. Both our Strategic Planning Committee and our DLT have christened this process “DRiving Toward 2030.” I want to salute all who have been collaborative in this process since the Portrait of a Graduate kicked off in the fall of 2022. Now, I am asking everyone else to consider participating. We are adding a few more subcommittee members who are alumni or live in our two towns. We are now at the stage of assembling subcommittees to build out the five foundational elements of the “DRiving Toward 2030” plan. Participating is optional; and in my opinion, it’s not a heavy lift. We are probably looking at a maximum of three evening meetings over a 4-month period. If you are willing to serve on a subcommittee, please take 2-3 minutes prior to January 9 at Noon to complete this Google Form. We will be creating subcommittees for each of the 5 focus areas (see below) and would like to know your top 3 subcommittee preferences. Please be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 24 at 6pm for our next in-person DRiving Toward 2030 meeting. This year, PRES is teaming up with George Family Orthodontics for an exciting Reading Rocks contest! All the contest details are outlined in the attachements. This event will run throughout January. Students will be given tally sheets in class (see attached PDF) starting January 2nd and are expected to return them by Wednesday, January 31st. The winners will be announced in February. REMINDER: Tomorrow (12/22/23) is a District Wide Early Release Day. Lunches will not be served. There is no PM preschool and PRES students will be dismissed at 12:20pm.

Due to numerous road closures in our towns, I have concerns about elementary buses running after sundown. Therefore, we will have the following dismissals: High School at 1pm; Middle Schools at 2pm; Elementary Schools at 3pm. Champions will remain open. Families should be aware that delays are inevitable. A decision on after-school activities is forthcoming. Thank you for your understanding of this decision made in the name of safety. Reminder: The Student Council Community Service Group is accepting donations to help Rehoboth families in need. Please see the attached poster for more information on how to help. All donations can be dropped off in the labeled boxes near the cafe entrances. Thank you!

Tomorrow is our annual Veterans Day Tribute at Palmer River Elementary School. Parents/guardians of our fourth grade students are invited to attend the tribute in person, as well as any local veterans who wish to attend. Thanks to Mr. Nardozzi from DRRHS’s CTE program, the tribute will be viewable for those watching from home via livestream with this link: https://www.youtube.com/user/DRRHStv/streams. Palmer River Elementary School's Veterans Day Tribute Local Veterans and fourth grade families are invited to our Veterans Day Tribute on 11/9/23 at 1:30 PM. We are looking for the following new items to be donated to local families in need.

This morning, we had our first "banking day" with our community partners, Bristol County Savings Bank. A number of students in grades three and four opened their very first savings accounts, and made account deposits. Students participating in BCSB's Savings Makes Sense program will also receive a $5.00 deposit from the bank when they open their account. We are excited to see our students gaining financial literacy skills through this valuable program, and look forward to our next visit on October 19th.

The PTSA play date was a HUGE success! Over 300 PRES students and their families showed up to play, socialize, and enjoy a cold treat from Palagi's! Even our Falcon flew down from the nest to visit. It was a blast! #WeAreDR
